Tires: they’re your car’s first contact with the road, and when they’re in good condition, they can go a long way toward keeping you safe on your daily drive. Even so, most of us just don’t think about our tires very often. If you’re like a lot of people, you probably have a hard time remembering when you last changed them. And until you get a flat tire, it’s hard to convince yourself to spend the money to get a tire replaced.
But if your tires are worn, you may encounter problems that endanger you, your car and everyone else on the road. Car tires with poor tread are more likely to hydroplane, potentially causing a traffic accident. Older tires are more susceptible to full rupture on forceful impact. When you keep your tires healthy and happy, you’re not only a responsible car owner — you’re a respectful driver, too.
How do I know I need new tires?
Sure, it’s important to keep your car tires in shape. But how do you know you need to make a change?
You know by making regular inspections. Look your tires over every four months or so to make sure they’re in good shape. Insert a penny into the tread, head first. Can you see Lincoln’s head? Then it’s time for new tires. Same goes if you see your sidewalls cracking or obviously wearing in some other way. Keep your tires rotated, aligned and inflated; uneven wear can lead to problems with your car’s balance.
Chapel Hill Tire is here.
Chapel Hill Tire, your local tire shop, offers services that will keep your tires in peak condition, likely for better prices than you can find at your dealership. We’ll check your tires over for free, and if we think they need a little love, we’ll let you know. We’ll fix a flat tire if it’s smaller than ¼” in diameter, tell you honestly when it’s time to get new tires, and help you find the most affordable option.
Chapel Hill Tire also offers innovative services like NitroFill™ inflation. We’ll replace the air in your tires with nitrogen, increasing their lifespan and performance. Your car will get more miles per gallon, and you’ll be less likely to have a blowout on the road.
